Caveat Emptor by Ken Perenyi
Caveat Emptor by Ken Perenyi is a wonderful autobiography by this self-taught artist that became one of the most prolific forgers of fine paintings by the great masters of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Ken’s skills and developed techniques for aging his paintings fooled the greatest experts around the world over the last 3 decades. This book is very well written, hard to put down like a great novel, and proves the truth can be much more interesting than fiction. A truly fascinating autobiography. Thankfully the time frame for the statute of limitations has gone by allowing Ken to tell his story.
I would have never read this book if it hadn’t been given to me as a gift from my parents who are next door neighbors to the author. I said hello to Ken and had the usual neighborly small talk for many years never realizing he had such a great story to share. I also don’t typically chose autobiographies since they too often are by public figures that are much more impressed with themselves than their stories warrant. However, this is a great book and story worth your reading time for sure. Couldn’t put it down! So as usual Hit The Books, They Don’t Hit Back!
