Antifragile, Things That Gain From Disorder by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Antifragile, Things That Gain From Disorder by Nassim Nicholas Taleb . All I have to say is WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW! What a truly wonderful book! From someone that reads 20-40 books a year, and have for years, this book is one of the great ones! I am truly excited and pumped after reading this book! A real gem!
This is the author’s 3rd book published for mass consumption. Nassim also wrote Fooled By Randomness (I haven’t read) and The Black Swan (I have read). The Black Swan is also a wonderful book that I strongly recommend. Antifragile goes to a whole new level bringing highly philosophical knowledge to a real world street level. This author is a brilliant deep deep deep thinker and intellectual. He is highly educated yet very skeptical of big degrees and titles as he has observed through his life that most holding them are full of hot air. Nassim Nicholas Taleb is the quintessential “talk is cheap, it’s all about action and doing” guy that takes it things to a very deep intellectual level. There is so much meat in this book it’s just too over daunting to even try and summarize. Best advice I can give is don’t miss this truly wonderful and important book.
With that being said I must give a warning that to some might seem very arrogant. Not intended that way and if that offends you too bad I really don’t care. I give this warning because I truly love to do anything I can to ignite curiosity, the pursuit of truth, and reading and never want to extinguish this in anyone starting or taking that journey. So with that being said, if you are one of the many in the masses living a lifestyle of self imposed ignorance having read nothing in years except for the useless textbooks you read in college then you might not want to start with this one……..sorry might be over your head. Again not meant to be arrogant but would hate for you to try and ignite the spark of curiosity only to extinguish it by starting with a book over your head. I’m hoping instead of finding this arrogant many will take it as a challenge to pick up and read this great book. So as usual…………Hit The Books, They Don’t Hit Back!
